	<p>One of the most visited places in Ooty is the Ooty Botanical Gardens. These gardens were established by 1847 by the Marquis of Tweedale who planned its layout and design. It spans over 22 hectares of land area. Scenic and pristine, the Botanical Gardens are covered by different types of trees and vegetation. </p>
	<p>The gardens have more than thousand species of native and exotic fauna, which include trees, shrubs, plants, and so on. An interesting aspect is a fossilized tree trunk, situated right in the middle of the garden which is estimated to be 20 million years old. Those interested in studying fauna that is native to this region, should definitely come here as they will find the gardens to be a unique place offering them various insights. </p>
	<p>The Ooty Botanical Gardens is the venue for the annual Summer Festivals, which is held in the month of May. Many visitors come here during this time. The main attraction of this festival is the Flower Show. </p>

	<p>Ooty Hill Station is one of the mot exotic places to come and enjoy in the South. Established during the times of the British period as a place of escape from the heat of the plains, this place has grown to be quite popular over time, with tourists from aboard and people in India. </p>
	<p>Ooty also know as the â€˜Queen of Hill Stationsâ€™, is situated in the Nilgiris in South India. It lies at an altitude of, 240 meters above sea level and is surrounded by thick vegetation, tea gardens and eucalyptus trees. Some of the forest areas in Ooty and its surroundings are restricted and require special permission for exploration. The annual Tea and Tourism Festival bring in huge crowds here. </p>
	<p>The nearest airport is in the city of Coimbatore. Ooty can be reached via rail from Chennai and Mettupalayam. There are a lot of bus services available to Ooty from Chennai, Tirupur, Salem, Dindigal, Madurai, Trichi, Thanjvur, Knayakumari and Satyamangalam. </p>

The Garden in Ooty is the Botanical Garden that was founded by Marquis of Tweedale in 1847. The Garden is spread over an area of about 22 hectares and the annual flower show is conducted in this Garden by the Tamil Nadu Horticulture department. The most charming factor of the Garden is the 20 million year old fossilized tree. The Rose Garden in the city was set up at Vijayanagaram that houses about 2241 varieties of roses. The Park near the Lake is the Lake Park founded in the year 1978. The Lake in Ooty is an artificial Lake formed in the year 1824 by Mr. John Sullivan. The Doddabetta is meant to be the highest peak in the Nilgris. There is a telescope for the tourists to have the view of the greeny landscape. The Pykara Lake and Water Falls is located about 21kms from the city on the Ooty-Mysore road.</p>
